Animal Feed and Nutrition Industry Newsletter – Summary of All Major News in June 2026

In our continued Series on Animal Feed – here is a re-cap of all the news and happenings from the month of June 2026 from Animal Feed World.

Innovation across the global animal nutrition industry continues to gather pace, with leading companies introducing new technologies spanning phytogenic feed additives, precision feed formulation, sustainable premix manufacturing, feed biosecurity, grassland science and piglet nutrition.

The latest developments highlight the sector’s growing focus on improving feed efficiency, strengthening gut health, enhancing production sustainability and supporting livestock performance through science-based nutritional solutions.

Alltech Introduces New Phytogenic Solution for Swine Nutrition

Alltech has expanded its swine nutrition portfolio with the launch of Olerix, a new phytogenic feed additive formulated to support digestive health, immune function and growth performance in pigs.

The product combines a blend of bioactive plant-derived compounds that are protected using a proprietary coating technology intended to preserve their stability throughout feed manufacturing. According to the company, the formulation is designed to maintain biological activity from feed processing through to consumption, providing more consistent nutritional performance under commercial production conditions.

The launch reflects increasing industry interest in phytogenic feed additives as producers seek nutritional strategies that improve feed utilisation while supporting animal health.

Elanco Develops Digital Tool for Feed Formulation

Elanco has introduced a new online nutritional calculator that enables feed formulators to estimate beta-mannan concentrations in pig and broiler diets.

The digital platform evaluates common feed ingredients and helps nutritionists determine whether enzyme supplementation could improve nutrient utilisation by reducing unnecessary immune stimulation associated with beta-mannan-rich diets.

The company expects the calculator to support more precise feed formulation while contributing to improvements in gut health, feed conversion efficiency and overall production performance.

ADM Strengthens South American Manufacturing Network

ADM has further expanded its animal nutrition business in Latin America with the commissioning of a new premix and feed additive manufacturing facility in Apucarana, Paraná, Brazil.

The new production site has an annual manufacturing capacity of approximately 40,000 tonnes and incorporates advanced automation systems together with enhanced traceability technologies designed to improve manufacturing consistency and supply-chain reliability.

The investment reinforces ADM’s strategy of expanding regional production capacity to meet increasing demand for nutritional solutions throughout South America’s livestock industries.

Feed Biosecurity Technology Shows Promising ASF Results

New independent research conducted by scientists at the University of Minnesota has demonstrated that the feed biosecurity product FeedArmor significantly reduced concentrations of Emiliania huxleyi virus (EhV), widely used as a laboratory surrogate for African swine fever virus (ASFV).

The study reported a 99.99% reduction in viral levels within one hour following application under experimental conditions.

FeedArmor utilises a low-inclusion technology intended to simplify feed application while improving worker safety and operational efficiency.

As African swine fever continues to threaten global pork production, feed biosecurity remains an increasingly important component of integrated disease prevention programmes.

New Publication Highlights Global Importance of Grasslands

A newly released scientific publication is drawing attention to the critical role that temperate grasslands play in both livestock production and environmental sustainability.

The book, Advances in Temperate Grassland Science and Management, examines how improved grassland management can contribute to more resilient farming systems while enhancing carbon sequestration, biodiversity and forage production.

Grasslands currently provide a substantial proportion of global livestock feed resources while storing significant quantities of terrestrial carbon, making them increasingly important within climate-smart agricultural systems.

Alltech Expands European Research Infrastructure

Alltech has also announced the expansion of its European Applications Laboratory in Ireland, strengthening the company’s research capabilities in sustainable agriculture and environmental technologies.

Research programmes at the upgraded facility will focus on methane reduction, manure management, nutrient efficiency and anaerobic digestion, supporting the development of practical technologies that improve both livestock productivity and environmental performance.

The investment reflects growing industry demand for nutritional solutions that address greenhouse gas emissions while maintaining commercial production efficiency.

Garden Biopharmaceutical Broadens European Distribution

Chinese feed additive manufacturer Zhejiang Garden Biopharmaceutical has entered into a strategic distribution partnership with Denkavit Ingredients covering much of the European market.

Under the agreement, Denkavit will distribute a range of Garden’s feed-grade vitamin products—including vitamins A, D3, AD3, B6 and biotin—to customers across Europe, strengthening the availability of nutritional ingredients throughout the region.

The collaboration is expected to improve supply-chain efficiency while expanding market access for both companies.

Strategic Partnership Targets Animal Nutrition Supply Chains

Animal nutrition company Animistic has formed a strategic alliance with global sourcing specialist Blackhive to accelerate product development and commercialisation within the animal health and nutrition sector.

The partnership combines nutritional expertise with international procurement, sourcing and distribution capabilities, aiming to simplify supply-chain management while helping customers bring new products to market more efficiently.

Trouw Nutrition Introduces Behaviour-Based Feeding Innovation

Trouw Nutrition has expanded its piglet nutrition portfolio with the launch of Milkiwean ActiBar, a nutritional training device designed to encourage natural rooting and chewing behaviour before weaning.

The product is intended to stimulate earlier intake of solid feed, supporting gastrointestinal development and reducing nutritional stress during the transition from milk to conventional diets.

According to company trial data, piglets exposed to the feeding system consumed substantially more starter feed before weaning while experiencing lower levels of post-weaning digestive disturbances.

Industry Outlook

The latest product launches and infrastructure investments underline several key trends shaping the global feed and animal nutrition industry:

  • Greater emphasis on gut health and microbiome management.

  • Increasing adoption of precision nutrition supported by digital tools.

  • Expansion of sustainable manufacturing infrastructure.

  • Stronger focus on feed biosecurity against transboundary diseases.

  • Continued investment in climate-smart livestock production.

  • Growing integration of behavioural science into young animal nutrition.

Collectively, these developments demonstrate how animal nutrition companies are increasingly combining biological research, digital technologies and sustainable production practices to deliver measurable improvements in livestock performance, welfare and environmental stewardship.
